About this opportunity
This Scholarship is funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) Training Centre for Future Leaders in Quantum Computing (FLiQC). It is designed to support several outstanding PhD scholars who are highly motivated to drive groundbreaking advancements in quantum computing. The scholarship will be awarded to students of exceptional research potential to undertake research aligned with one of the centre's projects in the areas of devices, architectures, and algorithms for quantum computing.
The Scholarship provides a stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend rate per annum for up to 4 years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. In 2025, the stipend rate is up to $41,753 per annum, indexed on 1 January each year.
Recipients will participate in industry-based placements of a minimum total of one year full-time with FLiQC industry partners related to the student's area of research, along with a professional development program. This includes at least 60 full-time equivalent days of engagement in research and development activities. The scholarship is available to both domestic and international students enrolled full-time in a PhD within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney.
Applicants must hold an Honours degree (First Class) or Master's degree with a substantial research component or equivalent in physics or relevant related area, and must undertake research supervised by one of the Chief Investigators of FLiQC. Recipients must withdraw applications for other University of Sydney Research Training Program scholarships if accepting this award.
