About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on using advanced Artificial Intelligence techniques to model Jupiter's moon Europa's space environment and ionosphere. The project aims to emulate MHD simulations using AI models trained on existing data, enabling faster computational analysis for the Europa Clipper mission. The postdoctoral fellow will work with Dr. Corey Cochrane to build AI models, couple them with existing physical models, analyze results and disseminate findings to the relevant communities, collaborating with members of the Europa Clipper Science Team in preparation for the mission's arrival at Europa in the early 2030s.
