About this opportunity
Cranfield University is proud to join the Women in STEM Scholarship initiative by offering six fully funded scholarships for female students from selected countries in East Asia. The scholarships are co-funded by the British Council and the UK Mission to ASEAN. The initiative aims to address the gender gap in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions. Women make up a small fraction of the workforce and research teams in STEM, are published less, paid less, and are less likely to reach positions of leadership than their male counterparts. The scholarship seeks women with a background in STEM who can demonstrate their need for financial support and who wish to inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in STEM. Recipients must agree to return to their country of citizenship or residence for a minimum of two years after their scholarship ends and commit to capacity-building and socio-economic advancement in their home country. 2026 marks the 5 year anniversary of the UK becoming an ASEAN dialogue partner, and aspiring women in STEM scholars from all 11 ASEAN Member States can apply.
