About this opportunity

The ASPET Washington Fellows Program is a comprehensive fellowship designed to enable developing and early-career scientists interested in science policy to learn about and become more engaged in public policy issues. The program runs from September to May and provides fellows with extensive training in science policy and advocacy. Fellows participate in weekly virtual seminars covering science policy and the US government, ASPET's policy interests including science funding and animals in research, and policy writing. Fellows receive instruction on writing policy briefs for publication in ASPET's member magazine The Pharmacologist. A key component of the program involves traveling to Washington, D.C., to meet with congressional representatives and staff to advocate for biomedical research. ASPET covers all transportation costs, lodging, and expenses for the Capitol Hill visit according to ASPET's reimbursement policy. Fellows are highly encouraged to attend the ASPET Annual Meeting and any related policy programming. This fellowship helps develop the skills and insights necessary for fellows to become future leaders in science policy and advocacy.
