About This Opportunity

The University of Strathclyde has worked closely with the University of Strathclyde Students' Association, Scottish Refugee Council, and The Carnegie Trust to create this scholarship. Its aim is to help asylum seekers currently in the UK and individuals currently in the UK on humanitarian grounds to overcome obstacles in pursuing higher education. The scholarship is available to students who want to study for an undergraduate degree or a taught postgraduate degree at the University of Strathclyde. It covers the cost of tuition fees and provides money for essential study-related expenses. Successful applicants will receive full tuition fee coverage for the duration of their course until they become eligible for tuition fee support from the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) or Student Finance in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland. Additionally, the scholarship includes a study allowance of £2,000 to cover essential study-related expenses such as books, equipment, and a bus or train pass for travel to the university from within the Glasgow area. The scholarship will be awarded for the normal duration of the student's course unless the student withdraws, completes the course, is no longer legally permitted to remain in the UK, or receives Home Office status that qualifies them for support from SAAS or other UK student finance bodies.
