About this opportunity
The American Trust for the British Library (ATBL) Research Fellowship Program is a short-term research stipend that supports research projects making use of collections in any department at the British Library. The program partners with American collections-based institutions that offer established, competitive short-term research fellowships. It operates as a 'check box' or 'add-on' option for applicants to American short-term research programs, ensuring successful candidates conduct research in dialogue between an American collection and the British Library. Applicants must first be awarded a short-term research grant from one of the participating American partner organizations. If awarded a stipend from a partner institution and if the applicant has also elected to be considered for ATBL support, the ATBL will reach out and request they apply. The fellowship is designed to foster transatlantic scholarly collaboration and advance understanding of the British Library's diverse global collections.
