About this opportunity
Granted annually to a returning UPEI student in their first degree program of undergraduate studies in any faculty who has an interest in L.M. Montgomery, a demonstrated aptitude for social media initiatives, and has above average writing skills with an understanding of the importance of clear communication without reliance upon faddish abbreviations and other deviations from effective writing. The fictional Avery Scholarship in L.M. Montgomery's famous novel Anne of Green Gables is the crowning achievement of Anne Shirley's year studying to be a teacher at Queen's College. Queen's is a fictional version of L.M. Montgomery's own alma mater, Prince of Wales College, one of the founding institutions of UPEI, making Anne and Montgomery alumnae of this university. The successful candidate will participate in a learning opportunity with the LMMI through contributions to the lmmontgomery.ca website and other social media outreach efforts by the LMMI. The learning opportunity project will be coordinated between the LMMI mentor and successful student recipient.
