BAEF Fellowships for Americans

The Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) offers fellowships for Americans to pursue advanced study or research in Belgium during the 2026-2027 academic year. The program supports Master's students, Ph.D. students, and post-doctoral researchers at Belgian universities or research institutions. Fellows receive a personal stipend along with health insurance coverage in Belgium. The fellowship is designed for a 12-month period of residence in Belgium, though shorter durations of at least 6 months are permitted with prorated stipends. The BAEF awards up to fourteen fellowships as outright non-renewable grants, fostering educational exchange and friendship between Belgium and the United States. Applicants must make their own arrangements to register or affiliate with Belgian institutions, and knowledge of Dutch, French, or German is optional.
