About This Opportunity
The Ballantrae Community Fund is funded by ScottishPower Renewables community benefit fund from its Glen App Windfarm in South Ayrshire. The fund supports projects located within or directly benefiting Ballantrae, South Ayrshire, with around £55,000 provided each year on an index-linked basis. Awards can support a wide range of costs and activities including equipment costs, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional worker costs, consultations, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities. Priority is given to applications that align with the Ballantrae Community Action Plan 2024-2029, which includes six key themes: Working and Learning (developing local and visitor economy), Good Local Infrastructure (protecting and enhancing local facilities), Affordable Housing for All Ages, Getting About Easily (traffic safety and connectivity), Care and Wellbeing (health and care for older people), and Things to Do (creating vibrant events and leisure activities). While priority goes to CAP-linked projects, the panel also considers other projects benefiting Ballantrae and the surrounding area. The fund offers three grant sizes: small grants (£1,000-£5,000), standard grants (£5,000-£15,000), and large grants (over £15,000 up to £25,000). Multi-year awards of up to three years are available. Applications over £15,000 require submission of a grant enquiry form first. Urgent applications can be considered outside regular deadlines in time-sensitive circumstances. Decisions are made by the Ballantrae Community Fund Panel, comprising community members including at least two Community Council members and up to ten other community members. The panel meets up to four times a year to make recommendations on awards and advise on overall fund strategy.
