Barbara Finlayson Scholarship

The Barbara Finlayson Scholarship is awarded annually to a New Zealand School of Music (NZSM) violin, viola and violoncello student who is a returning student. NZSM string staff may also apply. A particular purpose of the scholarship is to fund postgraduate study, travel, accommodation and other expenses incurred in the pursuit of such study, both within and outside New Zealand. The scholarship was established through the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation from a generous bequest made by Barbara Finlayson, with the first awards made at the end of 1997. The recipient will be expected to demonstrate engagement and contribute to the community and environment of the New Zealand School of Music, which may include participation in ensembles, presentations, or performances at NZSM or university events.
