Barbara Finlayson Scholarship (School Leavers)

The Barbara Finlayson Scholarship is awarded annually to support New Zealand School of Music (NZSM) students who play violin, viola, or violoncello and are enrolling in their first year of study at NZSM. The scholarship aims to support students in their first year of university and is available to both domestic and international students. Established through the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation from a generous bequest made by Barbara Finlayson, with the first awards made in 1997 to postgraduate students. The scholarship is paid as a monthly stipend during the recipient's first year of study, subject to continued enrollment. Recipients are expected to demonstrate engagement and contribute to the NZSM community through participation in ensembles, presentations, or performances at NZSM or university events.
