Barry Goldwater Scholarship

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program was established by Congress in 1986 to honor Senator Barry Goldwater, who served his country for 56 years as a soldier and statesman. The program is the premier undergraduate award of its type in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering in the United States. The scholarship provides financial assistance to college sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue research careers in these fields. Goldwater Scholars receive up to $7,500 annually to cover the costs of tuition, fees, books, and room and board. The program seeks to identify and support students who show exceptional promise of becoming research leaders in their fields.
