About this opportunity
The Baruch Sokaribo Memorial Scholarship was established in 2024 to honour the memory of Baruch Sokaribo, an alumnus of the University of Regina who tragically lost his life in a traffic accident in October 2024 on his way to Fall Convocation to receive his Master of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics. Born and raised in Nigeria, Baruch was a mathematician who lived a life full of purpose with a profound love for learning and strong commitment to excellence. His passion for mathematics led him to pursue graduate studies at the University of Regina. Baruch was a humble man of faith who inspired others through his kindness, leaving a legacy of excellence, faith, and a reminder of the transformative power of education and kindness. The scholarship is presented to a University of Regina graduate student entering the second year of a thesis-based Master's degree in Mathematics or Statistics who has achieved strong academic performance and is registered full-time. The award honours Baruch's memory by supporting graduate students who exemplify dedication to mathematical sciences and academic excellence.
