About This Opportunity

The B.C. Access Grant (Full-Time) provides upfront, non-repayable financial assistance to low- and middle-income students enrolled in full-time studies at B.C. public post-secondary institutions. Students must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate program. The grant amount is based on the previous year's annual income and family size, with students in programs less than two years in length eligible for up to $4,000 per eight-month school year (up to $117.65 per week of study), and students in programs two or more years in length eligible for up to $1,000 per eight-month school year (up to $29.41 per week of study). The grant is automatically assessed when students apply for StudentAid BC financial assistance, requiring no separate application. As family income increases, the grant amount decreases according to established income thresholds that vary by family size. Students in longer study periods (up to 52 weeks of grant eligibility) may be eligible for more, while students in shorter study periods may receive less. The grant can be received for each year of undergraduate studies as long as the student continues to qualify based on income and other eligibility criteria. Funding is distributed via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) through the National Student Loans Service Centre. For study periods of 17 weeks or less, students receive 100% of funding at the start of the study period. For longer study periods, funding is split with half received at the start and half at the midpoint of the study period.
