About this opportunity

This is a needs inventory process for research infrastructure of national interest conducted by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). The inventory aims to identify areas where needs for new research infrastructure of national interest are clear. The outcome is used as a basis for the Swedish Research Council's targeted call for support for research infrastructure and as part of strategic work with research infrastructure. The inventory accepts proposals in four categories: (1) needs for new research infrastructure including international infrastructure, (2) needs to combine and substantially develop existing resources, (3) needs for continued operations for infrastructure with current grants expiring 2027-2028, and (4) needs for more extensive development within infrastructure with grants expiring 2029 or later. This is not an open call for research infrastructure funding, but rather a needs assessment phase that precedes future funding opportunities. Proposals are submitted by representatives of university leadership, research authorities, research funders, or research groups.
End of June 2026
