Bertha G. Hoedebecke Scholarship

The Bertha G. Hoedebecke Scholarship supports Elementary Education majors from Montgomery County, Illinois. This scholarship is available to high school seniors who will be incoming freshmen at Eastern Illinois University, or current freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior students at EIU. Recipients must be full-time students majoring in Elementary Education and must be residents of Montgomery County. A minimum 3.0 high school GPA is required for eligibility. Preference is given to seniors from Hillsboro Community High School, though students from other high schools in Montgomery County are also eligible. The award recognizes students pursuing careers in elementary education and provides financial support to help them achieve their academic goals. The scholarship is announced in the Spring semester and disbursed in the Fall semester. Students are automatically considered for this scholarship based on their completed General Application in the Eastern Illinois University scholarship system.
