Better Brighton & Hove Fund

The Better Brighton & Hove Fund aims to improve life in neighbourhoods across Brighton & Hove by inviting ideas from residents and community groups. The fund supports improvements to council-owned infrastructure, land, buildings and community spaces across the city. Each ward has at least £22,000 available to distribute during 2026, with some wards receiving additional funding from the Community Infrastructure Levy (money from developers for community improvements). Individual residents can suggest ideas and vote on proposals, while community organisations using council-owned premises can submit formal applications for funding. The fund operates through a participatory budgeting approach where residents gather ideas, vote on priorities, and decide which projects should receive funding. Projects must demonstrate benefits to the local area, alignment with council plans, evidence of need, positive environmental impact, and commitment to fairness and equality.
