About this opportunity
The Betty and Peter McLean Prize is funded by a generous gift from one of the world's leading conceptual artists, Bruce McLean, and is named in honour of his parents. This £1,000 prize is awarded to postgraduate students working predominantly in ceramics at Bath Spa University. Once all entries have been judged, one graduating postgraduate student will be chosen to receive £1,000 and have the opportunity to meet with Bruce McLean. The prize recognizes excellence in ceramics work presented at the annual Degree Show. Bruce McLean established his career in the 1960s and has worked in a wide variety of media and contexts, including performance, painting, print, architecture, video and ceramics. His relationship with Bath Spa began when he was invited to give a demonstration to students in 2017, and he has since established this award to support students in the ceramics department.
