About This Opportunity

This grant provides an opportunity for a constellation of researchers within academia and healthcare to plan with other actors in preparation for a future application for funding for a clinical study in therapy research. The grant aims to map the feasibility of a future well-defined therapy research project. This can include planning for national recruitment of patients, and especially if the patient base is limited, formulating how the number of recruited patients and participating clinics/centers can be ensured. The planning study can also involve identifying potential problems with permit applications or delays in procurement and manufacturing of investigational medicinal products, and how this can be avoided. Conducting a systematic review to get a better picture of the state of knowledge may also be part of the planning. The planning grant should also include collaboration with relevant users and enable future projects to have active user participation. The application may also include establishing a national network with various researchers and actors for coordination of a research question of high scientific quality and relevant to clinical therapy research. The goal of the grant should be to return with an application to the Swedish Research Council within 1-2 years in connection with a call for grants for clinical studies in clinical therapy research.

Review process

Applications are evaluated by one of three review panels where members are international researchers. At least three members review and grade each application individually. If there is a need for additional expertise, an external reviewer may also be involved. The entire review panel meets to discuss and prioritize applications and make recommendations to the Committee for Clinical Therapy Research.
