About this opportunity
The purpose of this research environment grant is to build up operations and environments for nuclear technology basic research at Swedish universities and colleges. This initiative aims to create larger and more developed research environments with more active researchers that can attract both national and international researchers. The grant provides expanded opportunities for academic career paths in nuclear technology, which can increase student interest. The intention is to strengthen the receiving capacity for doctoral students, students and external project funding in these environments. The research environment should conduct basic research with a long-term holistic perspective on nuclear technology including multiple aspects of extraction and enrichment of energy metals uranium and thorium; nuclear fuel production; reactor technology; construction, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of nuclear power plants; recycling and final disposal of nuclear waste; and management of nuclear technology-related safety, health and environmental aspects. Cooperation and creation of synergies between participating researchers is of particularly great importance for building long-term research environments.
