About this opportunity

This grant program from the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) provides funding for research time in clinical environments. The purpose is to enable clinically active professionals to conduct part-time research while simultaneously developing their clinical competence, thereby strengthening and renewing medical and clinical research. The grant is intended as a career step for independent, established researchers at or near the docent level. The program targets individual researchers who have completed their doctoral degree no more than 10 years before the application deadline. Applicants must have employment in healthcare (such as physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, or dentists) of at least 30% of full-time during the entire grant period. The funding consists of a standardized amount comprising two parts: a salary component for clinical work (510,000-850,000 SEK per year depending on activity level) and a project grant of 1,000,000 SEK per year for all project-related costs. The grant period is 2-6 years starting January 2026. This funding opportunity is designed to support the development of independent researchers who can bridge clinical practice with research, contributing to evidence-based healthcare and medical advancement in Sweden.
