About This Opportunity

The Cultural Facilities theme from Biffa Award aims to improve recreation, interest and education through projects based within theatres, galleries, museums, concert halls, arts or heritage centres. The project must be open to the public and be inclusive, inspiring and promoting learning, creativity and participation. Local communities should be able to enjoy, benefit and engage with collections, exhibits or performances as often as possible, with sites attracting tourists or day visitors. Examples of fundable costs include exhibition and interpretation improvements, interactive displays, outdoor amphitheatre spaces and auditorium seating. Biffa Award gives grants to projects that benefit communities living near landfill sites. The project must be within five miles of a significant Biffa Operation or within 10 miles of an active Biffa Landfill Site, and also within 10 miles of a licensed landfill site. Priority is given to projects that demonstrate wider community benefit and need, with facilities expected to be used by many people each week, benefiting different ages and demographics.
