About this opportunity
This scholarship is awarded annually to a student with superior academic achievement entering the second year of studies in the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta. Recipients are selected primarily on the basis of academic standing. Additional selection criteria may include financial need, being a member of an historically disadvantaged group as defined by Opening Doors Plan of the University of Alberta, involvement in the community, extra-curricular activities at the University or at the Law School, and whether a student has multiple responsibilities and limited support. The scholarship is renewable for an additional year provided the student remains within the top 20% of the class. Recipients chosen for this scholarship will become part of a group known as Blakes Scholars. This endowed scholarship is provided by Blake, Cassels and Graydon, LLP, Barristers and Solicitors, based in Toronto, Ontario.
