About This Opportunity

The Blind and Low Vision Study Award is offered by the New Zealand Ministry of Education to support teachers and kaiako who work with blind and low vision students. The award provides financial support for studying Massey University's Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching (Blind and Low Vision). The award covers domestic tuition fees, travel and accommodation contributions for block courses, and employer contribution for teacher release time of up to 50 study leave days per year. Applications open on 1 August and close on 12 September each year, with notifications sent on 25 November. Applicants must apply to both the Ministry of Education for the award and to Massey University for the diploma programme simultaneously. Priority is given to applicants currently working as Resource Teacher (Vision) and those who have not received a study award or fellowship with leave with pay within the last 2 years.
