BMO Financial Group Global Learning Awards

The BMO Financial Group Global Learning Awards are granted to five students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at UPEI who will study abroad as part of their UPEI education. Study abroad opportunities must be officially sanctioned by the university and be for academic credit towards a student's current degree. For over 200 years, BMO Financial Group has supported the principles of community reinvestment and corporate and social responsibility to the communities it serves. BMO has more than 45,000 employees and, with a strong sense of community, continues to invest in higher education across Canada. In the fall of 2018, BMO decided to provide a leadership gift to the university through a pledge of $250,000 to UPEI's Inspire! Campaign to begin in 2020. To recognize the value of student participation in studying abroad as a significant contributor to the sustainability of the social and economic development of the Island and broader communities, BMO has established these awards. Applicants must submit their scholarship application prior to their study abroad experience and their personal statement needs to detail their interest in practical learning experiences and how traveling abroad will contribute to the sustainability of the social and economic development of the Island and broader communities. Students will need to provide documentation that confirms their plans to study abroad, including a letter of reference from their program coordinator or department and proof of flight purchase. Student recipients will provide a synopsis of their experience upon their return, which will be shared with BMO Financial Group.
