About this opportunity
The Western Australian Department of Education is offering 2 Bob Hawke Aboriginal Teacher Scholarships each year to assist prospective Aboriginal secondary teachers to complete a teaching qualification and commence their career in a public school. Scholarships are valued at up to $30,000 if the recipient is studying a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), and up to $16,000 if they are completing the Master of Teaching (Secondary). The scholarship is specifically designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students residing in Western Australia who wish to pursue a career as secondary teachers in WA public schools. Recipients must not already hold a tertiary scholarship or other financial assistance from the Department of Education, and must not already be qualified secondary teachers. Applicants can either be intending to enroll or already enrolled in an accredited secondary teaching qualification at a recognized Australian tertiary institution, having completed no more than one year of full-time study.
