About this opportunity
The Bree Eriksen Memorial Dance Award is a scholarship established to support Calgary high school students pursuing post-secondary education in dance. The award is open to Grade 12 students completing their high school diploma with a minimum 75% GPA who are attending Calgary Board of Education or Calgary Catholic School Division schools. While dance as a major or minor is preferred, it is not strictly required. The award supports students entering post-secondary programs in Canada of at least two years duration. Selection is based on an original 500-word essay reflecting on why the applicant is choosing dance and what they hope to accomplish, a video submission of up to 5 minutes demonstrating a minimum of two dance genres, academic achievement, and references from a dance instructor. The fund is administered by EducationMatters in partnership with Calgary Foundation, and recipients are selected by September with payments made to the post-secondary institution during the second semester upon confirmation of continued enrollment.
