Brenda Edgar Scholarship For Women

The Brenda Edgar Scholarship For Women supports adult mothers over age 25 who are enrolled in the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) or Bachelor of Arts in General Studies program at Eastern Illinois University. The scholarship is designed for returning adult female parents who have had a significant break in education due to life events and are now committed to completing their baccalaureate degree. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference is given to single mothers who would be unable to complete their degree without financial assistance, particularly those coming from abusive situations who have a strong desire to improve the quality of life for themselves and their children. The scholarship requires applicants to have demonstrated ability to complete college-level work, and preference is given to students who have completed at least 60 credit hours. The award is announced in the Spring and paid in the Fall and Spring semesters.
