About this opportunity
The Brian Aspin Memorial Scholarship is a postgraduate scholarship for students pursuing master's or honours degrees with a focus on agriculture or animal science. This scholarship is funded by the Aspin family and the Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC), who matches their donation. Brian Aspin was a passionate dairy farmer who had a 38 year association with the LIC. He served as an AB Technician, an AB Supervisor, Liaison Farmer and then a Shareholder Councillor. He died of cancer in 2011.
The scholarship supports candidates who want to pursue careers in agriculture. Recipients can study honours or master's degrees in Agriculture, Agriculture Science, or Science with majors in areas such as Agricultural Biotechnology, Biochemistry or Animal Science. The scholarship is valued at $5,000 NZD and is awarded for one year's duration.
Two awards are available annually to New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. Selection is based on academic achievement and the applicant's intention to pursue a career in the agriculture industry. The scholarship is open to both full-time and part-time postgraduate students at Massey University.
