About this opportunity
The Button Family EDI Graduate Research Award is an annual scholarship presented to University of Regina graduate students pursuing research projects focused on social justice initiatives. The award supports research expenses including materials, specialized software, data acquisition, research assistants, travel, conference registration, or field work related to thesis or major studies. Recipients must demonstrate a focus on social justice initiatives such as social responsibility, anti-racism, inclusion (2SLGBTQ+, disability, immigrants, gender) or reconciliation. The award gives preference to current or past members of the Canadian military, first responders, or their immediate family members. Upon completion of their thesis or major studies, recipients must submit a report of their expenses within one year following the date of application. If the budget request is less than the amount allotted, unused amounts will be returned to the award fund. The scholarship is funded by an endowment with annual awards based on a payout percentage determined by the University.
