About this opportunity
The German Archaeological Institute (DAI) offers two post-doctoral research fellowships annually to Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) members based in North America who wish to use the library facilities of the DAI in Berlin. The fellowship is intended for early-career researchers who hold a Ph.D. degree (or its equivalent) and demonstrate professional competence in archaeology. Each fellowship has a maximum duration of two months and must take place within the award year. The fellowship provides comprehensive support including travel expenses, a daily allowance, and residence at the DAI's guest house. Fellows who wish to bring their families may arrange alternate housing with a rental allowance provided by the DAI. While in residence, Fellows are expected to give a lecture for the DAI and take advantage of the extensive library, archive, and museum resources available in Berlin. Fellows are selected on the basis of scholarly promise as indicated by the applicant's academic record, prior publications, and the merits of the proposed research project.
