Canadian Northern Studies Trust (CNST) Awards

The Canadian Northern Studies Trust (CNST) Awards are offered through the Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies (ACUNS) to foster scholars and scientists with northern experience and enhance educational opportunities for northern residents. These awards support students engaged in northern or circumpolar research and fieldwork. CNST provides a variety of awards ranging from post-doctoral researchers through to awards for northern residents pursuing undergraduate degrees. For the majority of awards, applicants must include an aspect of northern or circumpolar fieldwork as part of their research conducted within the term of the award. The program aims to develop expertise in northern studies while providing accessible post-secondary education opportunities for northern residents at Canadian colleges and universities.
