About this opportunity
The Cancer Care / Betsy Tontini Nursing Scholarship was established in 2000 to honor the memory of Betsy Tontini, a Wenatchee nurse who touched numerous lives with her warm and special caring. Betsy was instrumental in organizing Cancer Care of NCW as well as founding 'Our House', a home for out of the area patients to stay while receiving treatment. Following her death from cancer in 1997, this scholarship was created in her memory.
This scholarship supports graduating seniors from Chelan or Douglas county high schools or Wenatchee Valley College students who plan to enroll in the nursing program at Wenatchee Valley College. The scholarship committee seeks to award students who demonstrate leadership ability through participation in community and extracurricular activities.
Eligible applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, demonstrate financial need, and show a significant chance of success. The scholarship is renewable for recipients after acceptance into the nursing program, though recipients must reapply and compete with new applicants.
