Capacity building: clinical research training fellowship

This fellowship provides funding for registered healthcare professionals with a PhD (typically obtained five or more years ago) who have been working outside of research and wish to reacquire research skills. The fellowship supports clinical academic career development across all areas within the Medical Research Council's remit to improve human health, ranging from basic studies on disease mechanisms to translational and developmental clinical research. Applicants must be registered healthcare professionals (including doctors, dentists, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, healthcare scientists, pharmacists, clinical psychologists, and veterinarians) with clear plans to pursue a clinical academic research career. The fellowship covers full salary costs plus funding for research consumables, equipment, travel, training activities, and data preservation/sharing costs at 80% of full economic cost. The program also offers joint funding opportunities with numerous collaborating charities and organizations including Diabetes UK, Parkinson's UK, British Journal of Anaesthesia, Motor Neurone Disease Association, Stroke Association, and others, providing additional prestige and networking opportunities in specific disease areas.
