Care Experienced and Estranged Student Bursary

University of Glasgow Original Source

About This Opportunity

The University of Glasgow is offering five bursaries specifically for Care Experienced and Estranged Students. These bursaries aim to support students who have been in care or are living independently due to family estrangement. Care-experienced refers to anyone who has ever been in care, regardless of the duration, including those in residential care, foster care, kinship care, or under a supervision requirement at home, as well as those adopted from care. Estranged students are young people studying independently without family support due to a breakdown in family relationships, often with limited or no contact with their families. Each bursary is typically valued at £1,500 per year for each consecutive year of the degree programme. These bursaries offer vital support, ensuring that students can pursue their studies without the additional financial strain. Eligible students will be invited by the Widening Participation (WP) team to apply during the first semester of their first year.
