Care Leaver and Estranged Student Accommodation Award

The Care Leaver and Estranged Student Accommodation Award is a financial support program offered by the University of Northampton for students from care backgrounds or who are estranged from their families. This award provides eligible students with a fully funded place in the university's Halls of Residence for the academic year 2026/27, covering the entire 52-week contract free of charge for their first year of study. The program is specifically designed to support care leavers and estranged students by removing the financial barrier of accommodation costs during their transition to university life. Up to five places in Halls of Residence are available through this award, allowing students to apply for a place in any of the university's accommodation options. This comprehensive support aims to create a stable living environment for students who may not have traditional family support systems. To be eligible, students must be beginning their first academic year in 2026/27, be under 25 years old on the first day of the academic year, and be enrolled as a 'Home' student on a full-time undergraduate course. Applicants must have been in care or under a care order for at least thirteen weeks since age 14, or be classified as an estranged student by Student Finance England. The award is exclusively for UK students, with EU and International students not eligible to apply.
