About this opportunity
The Carole Campanaro Memorial Nursing Award is granted to a second year student in the four-year BSc. in Nursing program at UPEI who is in good academic standing and has demonstrated a strong personal response and dedication to the challenges of nursing. This award is non-renewable and was established by a group of friends to honour the memory of Carole Campanaro, who had a distinguished nursing career marked by care and thoughtfulness for her patients. Carole trained at the Victoria Public Hospital in Fredericton, graduating in 1961, and worked in various locations including Bermuda, Montreal, Vancouver, and Edmonton before becoming involved with nursing administration and charitable work. Her life was tragically ended in a motor vehicle accident in 2013 while returning from a WOHELO meeting, a charitable organization dedicated to raising funds for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
