About this opportunity
The Carole Muller Award (Fieldwork) is a postgraduate research scholarship that aims to support research students to travel to continue their research in Balinese culture, art and history. Established in 2019, this scholarship has been generously donated by Carole Muller to support travel for students undertaking postgraduate study and/or research in the field of Balinese culture, art and history. The scholarship is designed to enable PhD students at the University of Sydney to undertake essential fieldwork as part of their research projects. Preference is given to applicants undertaking research in the field of Bali Aga ("Original Balinese") people with particular attention to visual culture. The award is determined by a selection committee consisting of the Chair of Indonesian Studies and two other relevant academics, based on academic merit, research proposal, fieldwork plans, and demonstrated interest and aptitude in the field.
