About this opportunity
The Carolyn Baxter Memorial Award is a scholarship opportunity for grade 12 students at Henry Wise Wood High School in Calgary, Alberta. This award is designed to support alternative thinkers who have struggled with adversity and embrace life. The award recognizes students who have demonstrated resilience and unique perspectives while pursuing their education.
Applicants must have completed Psychology 20 or Psychology 30 and have plans to pursue post-secondary education in the fall following graduation. The scholarship specifically seeks students who can demonstrate how they have personally struggled with adversity, embraced life, and think alternatively. Recipients must submit a written description outlining these experiences along with their post-secondary study plans.
The award was established by donor Sheila Baxter and is administered through EducationMatters, a Calgary-based educational foundation. One award is available annually to eligible students. Recipients are notified by September, and payment is made directly to the post-secondary institution where the student enrolls.
