About This Opportunity

The University of Sussex is delighted to offer this scholarship of £3,000 to a History applicant starting in September 2026, named in honour of Sussex alumna Cate Haste. The scholarship is available to students who have accepted an offer to study History MA at the University of Sussex, commencing in 2026. Both applicants assessed as 'Home' or 'Overseas' for fee purposes are eligible to apply. Cate Haste was a television producer, writer and Sussex alumna. She produced many historical documentaries such as End of Empire and The Churchills, and wrote several books, including Keep the Home Fires Burning: Propaganda in WW1, Nazi Women, Clarissa Eden: A Memoir, and Rules of Desire: Sex in Britain WW1 to the Present. Her book, Passionate Spirit: the Life of Alma Mahler, was published in 2019. This scholarship is available for the 2026/27 academic year only. The award is provided as a tuition fee reduction. One scholarship is available, and all applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application before the end of July 2026.
