About this opportunity

The Catherine Southwell-Keely Travel Grant is a scholarship established to assist eligible candidates requiring extensive travel to pursue research in the archaeology of Egypt, Cyprus or Western Asia. This grant was donated by Catherine Southwell-Keely and provides up to $3,500 to support archaeology research activities. The scholarship is available to honours and postgraduate research students, as well as post-doctoral early career researchers affiliated with Australian or New Zealand universities. Applicants must be undertaking research in the archaeology of Egypt, Cyprus or Western Asia and must be applying for a specific research project funding. The grant is designed to cover expenses and support which can be planned for prior to spending. Preference will be given to applicants experiencing financial disadvantage. The scholarship value is paid as a lump sum payment and travel can be deferred or suspended for up to one year with prior approval.
