About this opportunity
The Catholic Biblical Association of America (CBA) Emerging Scholars Fellowship is a graduate student award given annually to four emerging scholars who show promise and appear likely to make significant contributions to the field of Biblical studies. The Fellowship enables recipients to attend the CBA Annual General Meeting (AGM), present their scholarship, and engage with scholars in the field. Established in 2016, this award supports doctoral students in the Biblical field who have not yet completed their doctorate. The CBA is a scholarly organization devoted to supporting biblical scholars from all traditions, sharing research through annual meetings and publications including the Catholic Biblical Quarterly, CBQ Monograph Series, and other scholarly publications.
Fellows receive comprehensive support including travel reimbursement (up to $750 domestic, $1,500 for international fellows), conference registration, room and board at the conference venue, a $220 honorarium, candidacy for one-year CBA membership with waived dues (including subscription to The Catholic Biblical Quarterly), and a two-year subscription to Verbum Researcher Library. The award is contingent on attending and presenting at the CBA Annual General Meeting, where fellows present their papers and have opportunities to develop relationships with other scholars in the discipline. Recipients must submit a half to one-page summary of their experience after the AGM.
