About This Opportunity

The CBE Staff Association Scholarship Award provides financial assistance to graduating high school students in Calgary whose parent or guardian is a current member of the Calgary Board of Education Staff Association. The award offers eleven scholarships total: six awards of $1,500 each based on financial need, and five awards of $1,000 each with no financial need restrictions. The scholarship is designed to support students transitioning from high school to post-secondary education in any field of study. Applicants must be registered in grade 12 and completing requirements for a high school diploma, with marks sufficient for entrance to a post-secondary area of study. Selection is based on level of financial need (where applicable), a 500-word essay describing how the award will assist in attaining educational goals, and three letters of reference from school officials, teachers, employers, or community leaders. Recipients are selected by September by the EducationMatters Student Awards Selection Committee. To claim the award, recipients must register in an eligible program of post-secondary study in Canada within eighteen months of notification. Award payments are made directly to the post-secondary institution. The scholarship is available to students attending City of Calgary schools within the Calgary Board of Education system.
