C.D. Youngren Scholarship

The C.D. Youngren Scholarship was established by Clare (Youngren) Whaley '38 to support outstanding undergraduate students at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. This scholarship is awarded to a rising senior who is engaged in a research opportunity during the summer of their junior year and continuing through their senior year. The scholarship recognizes exceptional students in natural sciences and mathematics, with a preference given to those majoring in one of seven specific areas: biology, biochemistry, chemistry, geosciences, mathematics and statistics, physics, or astronomy. Recipients must demonstrate engagement in sustained research work spanning from the summer following their junior year through their senior year.
