Centrum för Tekniker för autonoma svärmar av drönare
About This Opportunity
The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) is allocating 60 million SEK to establish a Strategic Research Centre (SRC) focused on technologies for autonomous drone swarms. The center aims to advance research on unmanned autonomous drones that are increasingly important for missions in air, water, ground, and space. The technical development is rapid and use cases are expanding. Swarms of many cooperating drones that together solve advanced missions are expected to become increasingly significant in the future. Research focus includes behavior of advanced autonomous drone swarms - how they cooperate, form, communicate, sense and behave to solve sophisticated missions together. The center will also focus on innovative design of lightweight drones, drones for extreme climates, propulsion systems (including battery and motor capacity), sensors and communication systems. The center must have a clear vision of versatile drones and reusable modular drone construction for increased sustainability. The research must support important Swedish and EU-relevant strategies, including the AI Commission's Roadmap for Sweden and the EU AI Regulation, and must be ethically defensible. The center is part of SSF's investment in Strategic Research Centres (SRC), aiming to stimulate collaboration between academia, research institutes, industry and society for stronger results and faster application.
