About this opportunity
The Charles A. Lindbergh Chair in Aerospace History is a competitive 12-month fellowship open to senior scholars with distinguished records of publication who are at work on, or anticipate being at work on, books in aerospace history. This prestigious appointment is offered through the National Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian Institution. The fellowship provides substantial financial support for replacement of salary and benefits up to a maximum of $100,000 per year. Residency in the Washington, DC area is a requirement, and fellows are expected to interact extensively with Museum professional staff, attend selected professional seminars and colloquia, and participate in the Museum's work-in-progress series. The incumbent will be expected to engage in work leading to a major publication in aerospace history. The tenure typically ranges from nine months up to an academic year (September through August), and appointments are typically not renewable.
