About this opportunity
The Charles S. Humphrey Graduate Fellowship in Chemistry is administered by the Guelph/Waterloo Centre for Graduate Work in Chemistry and Biochemistry (GWC2) and is awarded annually on a competitive basis. This fellowship provides $5,000 to support doctoral students in chemistry, with a preference for those specializing in organic chemistry. The scholarship recognizes Canadian citizens enrolled in full-time PhD programs within the GWC2 consortium. Candidates are evaluated based on their academic record, with the awardee selected based on demonstrated ability and promise in research, as well as performance in graduate coursework. Particular emphasis is placed on research excellence. Special consideration is given to outstanding students who do not currently hold other major awards. The scholarship is awarded for one year only, though previous recipients are eligible for re-award. No formal application is required as students are automatically considered by the graduate officers of GWC2, who bring eligible candidates to the coordinating committee by June 1 each year. The scholarship is presented at the annual Saturday seminar of the centre.
