About this opportunity

The Charlie Perkins Scholarship was launched in 2009 in memory of leader and activist Dr Charlie Perkins. The Charlie Perkins Trust partners with the Aurora Education Foundation to deliver the Charlie Perkins Scholarships to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in undertaking postgraduate study at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. The purpose of the Charlie Perkins Scholarship is to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have the potential to become leaders in their field and in communities. Since its inception fifteen years ago, 31 Charlie Perkins Scholars have been accepted into full-time study at these universities, with 28 having graduated to date. The value of each scholarship varies depending on the holder's course of study. It covers up to three years of full university and college fees, travel costs, and an annual stipend to cover living expenses. This scholarship provides comprehensive support for Indigenous Australian scholars pursuing postgraduate education at two of the world's most prestigious universities.
