About this opportunity

Awarded to a fourth year Nursing student in financial need, who reflects the qualities of the Charlottetown Hospital School of Nursing motto: treat every patient, regardless of status, as special and sacred, and fulfill their role with integrity while recognizing the dignity of each patient through all stages of life. Preference is given to students indicating a relationship to CHSON nursing alumnae or staff. The Charlottetown Hospital School of Nursing accepted the first class of nursing students in 1920, initially run by the Sister of Charity (Grey Nuns). In 1925, the Sisters of St. Martha took over administration. Over the years, approximately 775 students graduated from 1923 to 1971. UPEI is honoured to have this endowed fund that will support this award in perpetuity and honour this alumnae group for decades to come.
