About This Opportunity

The Chen-kuo, Amy and Aileen Chang Memorial Award was established by Dr. Daniel O'Hearn along with friends and family in memory of Dr. O'Hearn's wife, Aileen Chang, MD '91, BS '87, and her parents Chen-Kuo and Amy Chang. This scholarship supports rising seniors in good standing in the University Honors College who demonstrate an intention to continue their studies in the medical research field. Preference is given to students studying oncology, specifically lung cancer in non-smokers and/or women. Additional preferences include demonstrated financial need, strong interest in medicine and research, work or employment experience in medicine/oncology research or involvement in related innovative and novel research projects, and plans to pursue research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Applicants must submit an original essay describing their expertise or knowledge and how they aspire to make an impact in medicine/oncology research. The essay should outline their goals, expected contributions to the field, and cite relevant examples of situations where they have succeeded in reaching significant goals in the past.
